CX GL Rear Cover Oil Leak

Forum member Dimwalt posted a question about an oil leak to the forum.

So I noticed yesterday that there were seven small oil splotches on the floor of the garage where I park my GL.

I ride everyday so it has only started in the last 7 days. I have a small coolant leak from the weep hole in the water pump so now it looks like I will be dropping the motor and fixing everything.

My question is this: Is there anything I need to be aware of with an oil leak here, or is it just a failed gasket?

Forum member rampRAT06 replied with this solution. I had a similar leak some time back on my former CXC, and was successful using JB weld, since I had no issues needing the removal of the rear case. I couldn't find the thread but here is a shot of what the fix looked like. Uber cleaned, used blue painter tape on either side of the seam, several light coats and done. It never leaked again.
