Powering speedometer lamp from turn signals

In order to power the speedometer lamp from the turn signals, you will need to tap into both circuits.

This article from the pid253766#entry253766 forum, answered by Reg in Bristol shows how to use a pair of diodes to keep the speedometer lamp from flashing when the turn signals are active.

I replaced my busted speedometer with this... http://www.dimecityc...r-25-7033b.html

It works great. All the indicator lights work ie. oil, neutral and hi beam. I'm struggling with wiring the signal light. There is only one lead to the light. Obviously I can't hook it all up to that one lead. I tried and it makes the blinkers work as 4-way hazards. My question is how?

I also tried to hook the signals up directly with out the indicator. I have LED signals and replaced the flasher unit. When I connect the wires one side at a time it works. When I connect both at the same time they don't. I tested and both "ground" wires work.

Ideally I would like to figure out to have the blinkers work along with the indicator on the gauge. Any help would be we much appreciated!!!

use a diode in series with each of the cables from the signals this will allow the light in the gauge to work when one side is flashing, but block power from lighting the side you dont want to flash

Surprised they didnt tell you that when you bought the gauge or supply the diodes to do it Just grabbed couple of diodes off the desk and made a quick pic so here's how to fit one tell tale/idiot light that shows when either indicator is flashing but doesn't allow both to run its very simple Say you select the left ( orange) flashers power can go to the lamp in the clock which will flash along with the lamps on the bike but its blocked from powering the right(blue) side by the blue diode

and vice versa

thassit !

PLus good joints, insulation etc etc
