Motorcycle Assembly Photos

Whenever a complicated item is disassembled it is always a good idea to take many digital photos. Ideally, a photo should be taken for each step. Upon reassembly the photos can then be viewed in reverse order as a step-by-step guide. To support this, a cheap used laptop computer was purchased from eBay and is permanently located in the garage. The photos included here are ones that I have personally taken. They may be freely viewed, downloaded, copied, and distributed. However, they may not be sold or otherwise used in a for-profit venture. These photos are not a substitute for a shop manual, but are intended to be a supplement to the factory shop manual. The GL500/650 factory shop manual can be downloaded for free from several web sites, including here and http://downloads.hondatech.info/Moto/GL/GL500-650_Silverwing_5.pdf Unfortunately, the order of some photos is mixed up. This is mostly due to the camera resetting the starting picture number between successive downloads to the computer. I have not taken the time to sort the photos yet and it may be a while before I have enough spare time available to do so.
1982 GL500I Disassembly Photos
This is an unmolested bike that was disassembled, refurbished, and reassembled. As it was unmodified and had not been previously disassembled, it is an excellent reference for how Honda originally built the bike. The photos of this bike can be viewed here.
